About Phoenicia

Gateway to the high peaks

Phoenicia sits in the town of Shandaken along Route 28, on the banks of the Esopus Creek — the stream regarded as the birthplace of American trout fishing, and a favorite for summer tubing. It's also one of the closest bases for hiking Slide Mountain, the tallest peak in the Catskills, along with the rest of the Burroughs Range.

The hamlet has a small-town main street with a mix of family-run motels, cabins, and campgrounds, plus a handful of restaurants that fill up on weekends. Nearby Mount Tremper and Shandaken round out the immediate area.
